My hunger switch keeps flipping during my period week

Two kids, dinner is chaos. I’m on a GLP-1, and the three days before my period are a different country.

Last cycle I ate standing up while packing lunches—handful of crackers, half a string cheese, then wondered why I felt gross. Not a huge binge, just old habits creeping back.

What helped: I made a period-week drawer with shelf-stable stuff I actually like—roasted chickpeas, mini dark chocolate, electrolyte packets, apple sauce pouches from the kids’ stash (sorry).

I also put a sticky note on the fridge that says 'sit down for 5 minutes.' Sounds dumb but it cut the mindless bites. My cycle itself has been pretty regular, maybe one day heavier, and cramps are about the same.

Anyone else notice the week before their period feels louder on this med? Or found a snack that doesn’t leave you feeling blah?

Travel version of your drawer: I keep a zip pouch in my carry-on with roasted chickpeas, almond packets, and a couple of shelf-stable protein shakes. Hotel breakfast becomes my stash—two hard-boiled eggs + an apple in the room fridge.

The weirdly effective thing is a calendar alert 3 days out that just says “protein before lunchbox chaos.” Do you find the hunger switch flips harder on airport days or home-chaos days?

The standing-up eating is my tell too. I’m in a recomp, and luteal week is when my steps and sleep fall off a cliff. What helps: a 4pm protein anchor—cottage cheese or a shake—before dinner/lunch-packing chaos.

If I wait until I’m in the kitchen, I’m eating crackers off the counter. I also rate hunger 1–10 before grabbing anything; if it’s a 4, I drink water and finish one task first. Not magic, but it breaks autopilot.

Are you tracking your cycle next to sleep and training? My luteal week needs more sleep and less ego lifting, and that seems to quiet the hunger noise.
