My lifting log got flatter before my bodyweight trend did

I run a 4-day upper/lower split, row twice a week, and keep a spreadsheet with 7-day rolling averages for bodyweight, waist, and estimated 1RMs. Since starting a GLP-1 eight months ago, the scale dropped 31.4 lb and my waist is down 4.7 inches, but my squat and deadlift stalled for six weeks while bench kept creeping. I was ready to blame the drug for killing my drive, but my trendline showed sleep at 6h12m and protein averaging 112g.

I bumped protein to 150g and added a real rest day; the next two weeks bodyweight was flat, yet my top sets felt less miserable. Not a miracle, just less under-recovered. For those training hard on a GLP-1: do you track performance separately from weight, or does the scale drown it out?

Not saying it’s not the med, but a 4.7-inch waist loss is a sneaky variable. My squat/deadlift went to garbage for a month because my belt was suddenly loose and my bracing felt totally different; bench didn’t care.

Are you using the same belt/notch and same bar/plates lately? Hotel gyms also wreck my log: smith machine or trap bar one week, real barbell the next, and my spreadsheet thinks I got weaker.

I started tagging “home gym vs road gym” plus sleep and session RPE, and my six-week flatline was mostly equipment + travel, not the scale. Worth checking before you blame the drug.

Have you noticed if your setup feels different? A 4.7-inch waist loss changes your torso angle and bar path more than most people expect.

I'd bet your squat and deadlift are now relying on a hip position your nervous system hasn't relearned, while bench doesn't care as much about that lever change. When I cut 20 lb, my pulls felt "off" for weeks until I reset my start position.

Might be worth filming a set from the side and comparing it to an old video.

I’ve been maintaining a while and saw the same split—bench fine, squat/DL flat. For me the culprit was rowing volume.

Twice a week looks innocent until you add it to a 4-day split; my 7-day squat e1RM would dip before my bodyweight rolling average budged, because lower-body fatigue was accumulating faster than the scale changed. What’s your weekly rowing meters/time and lower-body RPE trend over those six weeks?

If rowing crept up or you’re doing it the day before squats/DLs, that might explain the flatter log more than the med. I’d track session RPE and sleep against the e1RM, not just the scale.

One thing I’d check before blaming the med: rest intervals and weekly tonnage on squat/DL. When my weight dropped, I unconsciously cut rest from ~3:00 to ~2:15 between top sets because the gym was packed, and my 7-day e1RM flatlined for five weeks while bench kept inching up.

My squat/DL tonnage was dwn ~17%, which I only caught because I log sets/reps/rest in the same sheet. Also worth checking if you switched bars/plates — I stalled deadlift once on a different bar and thought it was programming.

What’s your squat/DL weekly tonnage trend vs bench over that six-week stretch?
