When did the food math stop running in the background

My Sunday averages have moved in the right direction for four months, and I am grateful. What surprises me is how loud the mental accounting still is.

I plan lunch while eating breakfast, estimate protein before I taste anything, and catch myself checking my reflection between chores. None of it feels frantic, exactly, but it takes up space.

Last night I realized I had opened my notes app three times just to reread the same weekly number. I would like to keep the habits that work without letting every meal become a calculation. For those further along, did the background math ever soften?

Was it time, a change in what you tracked, or something else that helped it fade?

I’m at month 5 and the math got quieter when I changed how I tracked. I used to log every gram, then switched to 20g protein blocks and one palm-size check for lunch.

Weirdly, pre-logging dinner at 3pm killed a lot of the background noise. I also moved the scale to a closet and only look Sunday. The mental tally is maybe 30% of what it was. Curious: did yours fade with time, or did you have to change your tracking setup to get it to shut up?

not gonna lie mine got quieter when i stopped logging in an app and just used one bowl and eyeballed portions. the math is still there but it's a background tab now, not a popup.

weird thing that helped: i started writing one line after late gaming sessions, like "ate during queue, wasn't hungry, was just bored between matches." after two weeks the boredom pattern was stupid obvious and the numbers mattered less.

did yours get louder on days you're home all day? mine is 100% worse on long sessions with no dinner plan, the math basically starts yelling by hour four.
