12 flat mornings again

For eleven days the scale handed me the same number with tiny wobbles, and I wanted to stop writing it down. Nothing to celebrate, nothing to fix. But I kept ticking my little box each morning: sleep, water, whether I actually measured the granola or just eyeballed it.

Looking back, those ticks are the only reason I know what happened. I was tasting soups and sauces all afternoon and calling it "just a bite," then eating a regular dinner at home. The number wasn't frozen because my body gave up. It was frozen because my afternoon spoons added up to a whole meal.

Two weeks later things shifted again, slowly. Would I have caught it without the boring entries? Probably not — I'd have blamed my age or my prescription and changed nothing.

So I'm curious. When the scale is flat, do you keep logging anyway, or do you give yourself a break and pick it back up later? And if you do keep going, what's the smallest thing you bother tracking — just the weight, or something like portions and tastes?

Hi, brand new here too—week one and honestly nervous. Your little tick boxes sound weirdly comforting.

One thing I added: I take a quick photo of my plate instead of logging every bite, because I tend to lie to myself in numbers. I also only weigh first thing after the bathroom, before coffee, same old t-shirt.

Did you notice any non-scale changes during those flat mornings—rings fitting differently, stairs feeling easier, anything like that? I’m trying to teach myself to look for those, since the scale is so stubborn. Thanks for posting this.
