MOTS-C feels like golf: one good round keeps you hooked

I'm 14 weeks into a GLP-1 and down 22 lb, waist 38 to 34. The boring stuff is working: 140g protein, 7k steps, no liquid calories. So of course I started reading about MOTS-C because apparently I need another variable in the spreadsheet.

The golf comparison landed for me. You get one clean shot — better recovery, a decent week, whatever — and suddenly you're rebuilding your whole protocol around a par that doesn't exist. I haven't tried it.

I'm not asking for a source or a dose. I'm asking whether anyone else has noticed this pattern with peptides: the more you optimize, the more you're just managing noise.

My current rule is one change per 30 days. Keeps me from chasing ghost gains. What's the longest you've gone before deciding something was actually worth keeping?

The golf thing is real. I stalled for six weeks at the same scale weight, but my waist kept creeping down, which kept me from throwing the whole spreadsheet in the trash.

What helped was switching to 7-day averages and a monthly waist/hip measurement instead of daily weigh-ins. If you add another variable, decide before you start what single metric counts as success and how long you’ll give it before bailing.

Otherwise it’s just another tab. What would you want it to move first — recovery, steps, or the scale?

Honestly, before adding MOTS-C, I’d check the training log. I’m 4x/week too, and the only thing that convinced me recomp was happening was squat/bench/deadlift top sets holding or inching up while my waist trended down over a 4-week average.

If your lifts are dropping and you’re chasing another variable, sleep and protein are the cheaper fixes. What do your main lifts look like over the last 6 weeks—flat, up, or sliding?

That tells you more than one good week.

Fellow broke student here. My “one good round” is a belt hole, not the scale.

I use a $5 sewing tape from Walmart and measure waist at the navel, same time Friday before dining hall sodium chaos. Are you doing that? Because I was measuring after dorm stir-fry night and got 2-inch swings that made me want to throw the tape in the dumpster.

Also, cheap protein: cottage cheese + ranch powder + frozen veg = weirdly decent dip, like 30g for $1.50. If the boring stuff is still moving your waist, maybe the spreadsheet doesn’t need another column yet.

What would MOTS-C actually change that sleep and steps aren’t already doing?
