Annual labs came back with two uninvited plot twists

I run a small breakfast-and-lunch spot, so my day is built around tasting, scraps, and the 'just one bite' economy. I had annual labs done because my doctor likes to keep an eye on things after 40 lbs down. I expected the usual.

Instead, two numbers moved in directions I didn't predict: my A1c dropped a little more, but my ferritin came back low. Not scary-low, just enough to explain why I've been dragging through the 6am prep.

The weird part is the appetite side stayed the same, so I can't blame everything on eating less. I'm waiting to hear what my doctor wants to do, but meanwhile I'm trying to add iron-rich food without turning it into another project.

Anyone else have labs zig when your habits zagged?

ferritin dropping while a1c keeps sliding is such a weird flex from your body lol. mine went low when i was basically living on coffee, diet soda swaps, and like two real meals a day.

i started tracking iron-ish stuff in my app—beef, eggs, spinach, beans—and noticed i was way under on days i tasted all day but didn’t actually eat. do you know if it’s iron stores vs just low-ish?

also any chance you’re doing lots of tea/coffee around meals or had a recent blood donation? that was my hidden factor. curious what your energy’s like on late shifts.
