Appetite chatter is back and I can ignore it

Night shift, 7p to 7a. Three twelves in a row. For months my brain was quiet around food.

Last week the old snack reel came back. Not loud. Just there. Vening machine at 3am. Toast before bed. Chips after dinner even when I wasn't hungry.

I ate two cookies and moved on. That's the new part. Before, two cookies became a sleeve and a shame spiral. Now it's a blip.

I'm 11 months in, down 78 lb, mostly maintaining. The med didn't delete the wiring. It gave me room to practice.

Honestly, the return feels boring. Anyone else get their old appetite thoughts back without the old chaos?

I’m brand new here, only week one, so sorry if this is a silly question. Did the chatter feel different when it came back?

I work nights too, and 3am is my danger zone. Last night I typed a note in my phone: “3:10am, wanted chips, wasn’t actually hungry, made tea instead.” Seeing it written down helped me not spiral.

Do you track anything like that, or does it just make the food noise louder for you?

I’d gently push back on “can ignore it.” For me, ignoring the chatter usually makes it louder by 4am. What changed was shrinking the gap between urge and action, not silencing it.

I do 3 twelves too, and 3am is my witching hour. Last week I stood at the vending machine, didn’t buy anything, then went back and ate the string cheese I’d packed.

Not noble, just boring enough to work
