I keep a spreadsheet for basically everything, so I ran our last six months of grocery receipts. Household of four: baseline was $241 a week. Last Sunday's trip came in at $168. Same store, same two teenagers eating like locusts, same dog food, same paper towels.
The entire gap is my side of the cart — I used to grab a family-size chip bag, two frozen pizzas, and a pint of ice cream every single trip without thinking. Now I walk past all of it and don't register it.
My actual dinners are maybe half the volume they were in March. Produce line went up, packaged stuff went down, and I'm down 41 pounds since then.
Not shocking, but seeing it in a column hit different than seeing it on the scale. Anyone else tracking grocery spend as a side metric? Wondering if it holds once things level off.
