Scale is idling while my waist tape keeps shrinking

Honestly, i’ve been circling the same four pounds since the second week of March. Morning weights: 214.6, 213.9, 215.1, 213.2, back to 214.8.

I’m still doing the boring stuff—130g protein, 8k steps, two full-body lifts, and a walk after dinner when I can. Sleep has been garbage thanks to a work deadline, so maybe that’s part of it.

The odd part: my waist tape dropped almost an inch in the same stretch. I want to be patient, but every morning I open the app hoping for a number that actually moves.

I’m not ready to change anything drastic, just trying to decide whether daily weigh-ins are helping or just grinding me down. Has anyone else had the scale park for a month while measurements kept drifting?

What did you trust more during that stretch?

I had a stretch like that in February—scale stuck within 3 lbs, waist down almost an inch. What helped me trust the tape: measure same time (morning, before coffee), at the narrowest point, after a normal exhale, no sucking in, and don’t pull the tape tight enough to dent skin.

I also noticed poor sleep plus a salty deadline week added 2–3 lbs of water, but waist kept creeping down. Are you measuring at your navel or narrowest spot?

And have your clothes gotten looser in the same places? That might tell you more than the scale right now.

Annoying, but it sounds like recomposition, not nothing.

The sleep piece is what I’d gently poke at—not as a fix, just a pattern. During a deadline stretch, my morning weight bounced 1–2 lbs after short nights even when food and steps were the same, while the tape stayed steady.

I started jotting sleep hours next to weight and waist, and it helped me stop chasing daily noise. Are you tracking sleep at all alongside it?

Also, are you measuring your waist at the same landmark and time, like morning before food? That consistency made my tape numbers feel much more trustworthy.
