Down 1.8 pounds two days after a salty dinner

I’m in week 11 on tirzepatide, weigh daily, and only trust the 7-day mean. Last Saturday I ate a big bowl of ramen—not a binge, just very salty. Sunday: +2.1 lb. Monday: back to baseline.

Tuesday: -1.8 lb versus Saturday, with no change in appetite, waist tape, or bathroom patterns. My trend line just yawned. Water and glycogen are the obvious explanations, but the two-day lag is the part that feels like a glitch.

Anyone else get a delayed dip after a high-sodium meal, rather than the usual bump?

Salty dinners fake me out too—my scale loves drama, my trend line just shrugs. 🙃

I weigh daily too, and after a salty ramen night I stopped using a rolling mean for exactly this reason—one +2 lb blip sat in the window and kept dragging the line for a week. I switched to a 7-day median plus a 10-day mean, and the median barely moved while the mean looked constipated.

I also note high-sodium meals in my tracker; the bump usually shows next morning and fades over 48–72h. Is your trend line a mean or median?

If mean, that Tuesday -1.8 might just be the Sunday spike aging out, not a new low.

Cafe owner here — my scale does the same when I’m tasting brothy soups all morning. What helps me is comparing this week’s 7-day average to last week’s average, not to Saturday.

A 1.8 drop versus a single high-salt day can just be re-baselining. Do you flag the ramen in your log as a one-off high-sodium meal?

I put a little “S” next to those days so future me can see
