I gave Tuesday's weigh-in zero decision-making power

Daily weigher here, about five months in and down 42 lbs. This Tuesday the scale greeted me 1.8 lbs heavier than Monday after a late, salty dinner. Old me would have spiraled, cut portions, and checked again before lunch.

New me wrote it down, drank water, and waited for the seven-day average. By Friday the bump was half gone, and my weekly line had still moved down 0.4 lbs. That tiny average is doing more for my calm than any single morning number.

I’m not saying ignore the data — I just try not to let one noisy dot make policy. What’s your rule for when a weigh-in is allowed to affect your mood?

I do something similar: I add a tiny note to the scale entry like “restaurant ramen” or “late pickles” so future-me doesn’t read a random spike as fat gain. My rings and morning thirst are usually my tell—salty dinner, puffy fingers, extra water, and the weekly average barely moves.

Gentle question: when your daily numbers bounce but your 7-day line is still headed down, do you change anything at all, or just keep your usual meals and let the average do its job? I’m trying to get better at the second option.
