My two-pound drift band is doing more than the scale

I hit my goal range in February and immediately started worrying about backward drift. My daily scale is noisy, so I only act on the 7-day median.

I set a two-pound band: if the median sits above my ceiling for three mornings, I log weekdays and drop the bedtime snack. That sounds rigid, but it has kept me from either ignoring a trend or panicking over one salty dinner.

Down 63.8 lb total, and my 28-day slope is basically level. The contrarian part: I don’t think maintenance needs a new identity. It needs a tripwire.

What’s your tripwire—something numeric, a weekly photo, or just noticing your old habits getting louder?

I love the three-morning rule. Mine is similar, but I use a “walk-and-cook trigger”: if my 7-day median nudges up, I don’t drop the snack first—I add a 15-minute loop after dinner and try one new high-volume recipe (lately, cabbage and white bean skillet).

The extra steps and fiber seem to settle things without me feeling deprived. One thing I’m curious about: did you set your ceiling from scale history, or from how a specific pair of jeans fits?

I’m still figuring out whether my band should be two pounds or three, since salty dinners and long walks make my weight bounce.

Night shift too. My scale only works after my main sleep, not after a rough shift.

Extra signal I use: waistband fit on day 3 of my work block. Tighter plus weekly trend up? I drop the late-shift granola bar and walk 10 minutes before my commute. No drama.

One question: do you keep the same ceiling after a vacation, or give yourself a reset week? That’s where mine falls apart.
