The long stretch after goal has its own rhythm

I’m not big on anniversary posts, but this month marks eight years since I started and about five since I landed near 168. My highest was 452.

These days my maintenance is boring on purpose: I weigh four mornings a week, walk 25 minutes after dinner, and keep a two-week trend rule instead of reacting to any single number.

If the line drifts up for 14 days, I go back to measuring lunch portions and adding a protein snack in the afternoon. That’s it. No dramatic reset, no all-or-nothing week.

The mental shift was realizing maintenance isn’t a finish line I crossed; it’s a set of small defaults I keep choosing. For people who’ve been at this a while, what’s one unglamorous habit that still does the heavy lifting for you?

Night shifter here. Maintenance is boring for me too.

My tweak: weigh right when I wake, whatever time that is. Same bathroom, same no-food-yet rule. Never after a shift. That number is trash.

I also keep a weekly waist measure. Scale can hold steady while pants get tight.

My two-week trnd rule has a trigger: if the average is up 5+ for two weeks, I cut one snack and add 10 minutes to the walk. Nothing dramatic. Do you have a set trigger, or do you just watch the line?

That's the part I'm still figuring out.
