Three small promises for the next seven days

I’ve been back at this since early spring after regaining almost 20 of the 50 I lost a few years ago. I’m done trying to overhaul everything on a Monday.

This week my goals are intentionally tiny: protein with breakfast 5 mornings, a 12-minute walk after dinner at least 4 days, and in bed by 11 on work nights. That’s it. If I hit 3 out of 5 on any one, I’ll call it a pass.

Last week I managed the walks but ignored bedtime, and I still felt less lousy. What’s on your list for the next seven days? I’m looking for realistic stuff, not a whole personality transplant.

Honestly, love the three small promises. One thing that helped me: define the floor, not just the goal. My 12-min walk became “shoes on, out the door, 5 min minimum” on low days—still counts.

In the trials, post-meal movement looks helpful for glucose, but for me the real mechanism is it breaks the kitchen-grazing loop. Curious: what’s your protein breakfast? I rotate Greek yogurt + berries + nuts and egg bites, mostly to make the 5 mornings boringly easy.

Also, do you track with a notes app or paper? I need visible checkmarks or I drift.

i’m stealing the 3-goal format but scoring it like a nerd: paper index card, one row per day, 14 possible checks (5 breakfasts, 4 walks, 5 bedtimes). I write actual numbers in the boxes—protein grams, walk minutes, clock time—no scale, no apps.

The 11pm one is my weak spot, so I set a 10:15 “shutdown” alarm to brush teeth and plug the phone in across the room. If I’m horizontal but scrolling, I only count half.

What counts as a win for you on bedtime nights: lights out, or just in bed?
