Coffee till noon, then a real lunch most days

Curious how the day-to-day actually shakes out for everybody, because mine has gotten weirdly predictable in a good way. Mornings I'm just coffee with a splash of milk, and I genuinely don't think about food until close to eleven.

Then it's usually two eggs scrambled with a slice of sharp cheddar on a half bagel, or Greek yogurt with frozen blueberries if I'm running late for the pharmacy run.

Lunch is a turkey sandwich and an apple I cut up at the counter like my grandma did. Afternoon I'll hve a string cheese or a handful of almonds if my stomach says so. Supper is whatever the family's having — last night was chicken and rice with green beans — just a smaller pile than I used to take.

The part that still surprises me is not wanting anything after supper. I used to be a bowl-of-cereal-at-nine person. Now I brush my teeth and that's that.

My insurance just approved another stretch, so I'm trying to be intentional while I have it. What's your midday look like? I'm nosy and I need ideas for lunches that don't bore me by Wednesday.

I love a weirdly predictable good routine. Mine is similar: coffee with a splash of milk, then I make myself drink a big glass of water before the second cup.

Lunch is almost always a “girl dinner” plate—turkey slices, cucumber, a few crackers, hummus, and whatever fruit is about to go bad. I track loosely in my notes app, just protein and fiber, because that’s what keeps me from grazing all afternoon.

Curious: on days you do the eggs + half bagel, do you make it to dinner without a 3pm snack, or do you plan a small bridge snack? I’m trying to figure out if my afternoon slump is hunger or just habit.

the predictable lunch is smart. My plateau loosened a little when I started pre-logging lunch the night before instead of tracking after the fact.

I do eggs + cheddar + half bagel too, but I weigh the cheese now because “a slice” was somehow doubling. My bigger problem is 3pm: if lunch is light on protein, I’m standing at the counter inhaling crackers.

Anyone else suspect their long plateau is really a weekend-lunch problem rather than weekdays? I’m side-eyeing my Saturday “whatever” meals.

This is oddly reassuring. I’ve started jotting a tiny note at lunch: hunger before (1–10), what I ate, and how I feel around 3pm.

The pattern surprised me—egg/cheddar/half bagel days I’m steady, but yogurt + frozen berries days I’m hunting the pantry by mid-afternoon unless I add nuts or a little more protein. Not judging either lunch, just interesting.

Do you notice a difference in afternoon energy between the egg days and the yogurt days? And does lunch usually carry you to dinner, or do you plan a small afternoon anchor?
