New here and wondering if flat mood is a starter thing

hi everyone. I'm brand new, only a couple of days into this, and I'm trying not to overthink every little feeling.

I usually get a tiny lift from my evening routine: one crossword, a mug of peppermint tea, a podcast I've heard a hundred times. Last night I made the tea, opened the puzzle, and just felt sort of gray and uninterested.

Not sad, not hungry, just flat. Food doesn't seem exciting or gross, it's more like background noise.

I know starting something new can make nerves do weird things, so I'm hoping this is just an adjustment phase. For those who've been here longer: did any of you get a temporary mood dip or a nothing-sounds-fun patch early on, and did it lift?

I'll mention it to my prescriber too, but I wanted to hear real experiences. Thank you for reading, and sorry for the nervous first post.

Welcome — I’m typing this from an airport gate, so I feel you. Early on, my usual hotel-room wind-down (kettle tea, bad TV, same playlist) went from cozy to beige. Not sad, just… static.

What helped was lowering the bar: I didn’t force the crossword, just did three clues and noted whether it felt 0, 1, or 2. Some nights were 0, some were 2.

Travel blurs everything too — are you in your normal time zone this week, or is this a hotel/airport stretch? Sometimes the gray is just logistics wearing a trench coat.

Keep the tea even if the puzzle can wait.

Ugh, that gray blah feeling is so real early on. I kept my tea-and-crossword ritual anyway, just gentler. ☕

Cafe owner here—my first week I stared at my usual latte like it was paperwork. The little rituals came back. Hang in.

Not a doctor, just a nerd with a spreadsheet. I tracked 8pm “interest in usual stuff” 1–10 for the first month.

Days 1–5 averaged 4.6; days 6–12 jumped to 6.4 after I stopped forcing my wind-down ritual and just did tea plus 10 minutes of something dumb. Mildly contrarian take: the gray might be less this whole shift and more the abrupt change in reward routines.

Are you logging how you feel before vs after the crossword/tea, or just noticing it after? My trendline says my flat evenings tracked harder with sleep debt and low protein than anything else. Worth a 7-day note?
