My unglamorous protein rotation when cooking is off the table

I got down 68 pounds, put 32 back on over two years, and I'm trying again without making it a whole identity. My appetite is weird right now, so protein has to be something I can make while half-zoned-out.

Current rotation: tuna pouch mixed with cottage cheese and pickle relish, scooped with cucumber rounds. Another: frozen edamame microwaved, two hard-boiled eggs, chili crisp.

I also keep Greek yogurt with peanut butter powder in the fridge for when chewing feels like a chore. None of it is pretty. All of it gets me past 40 grams without a recipe or a sink full of pans.

What's your unglamorous protein meal that actually happens on a low-energy night?

I keep a dumb cost-per-30g-protein sheet when my appetite is like that. Current lazy rotation: frozen shrimp ($6.99/lb, ~4 min microwave, ~20g protein per 3 oz), 32 oz cottage cheese ($3.49), edamame ($1.99/bag), and tuna pouches only when they’re under $1.50 each.

Cucumber rounds are smart—I use bagged cabbage for crunch because it lasts longer in my fridge. Are you rotating for appetite/texture or just avoiding flavor fatigue?

My problem is I’ll eat the same combo five days straight and then never want it again.

Half-zoned-out cooking is my whole season, honestly. One thing that’s earned a spot: I grab a rotisserie chicken at our little grocery when it’s marked down, pull it while it’s still warm (cold chicken feels like punishment), and baggie it in 3–4 oz snack bags.

Then it’s just microwave with salsa or toss into those cucumber rounds. I also keep frozen shrimp because it thaws in a colander while I stare into the fridge.

Curious — does warm protein go down easier than cold for you right now, or is it all texture-dependent? I’m trying not to overthink it, but my appetite is a little gremlin lately.
