Two years past goal and my routine is mostly unremarkable

Hit my goal weight in the spring of 2023 and I've stayed inside a five-pound band since. The surprise is how much the daily texture changed while the scale barely moved.

I weigh on Sunday mornings now, not daily, and the number mostly confirms what I already noticed — climbing the hill by my house without negotiating with myself, sleeping through the night.

The habits that stuck are unglamorous: a protein shake I genuinely like, getting off one stop early, eating dinner at the table instead of standing at the counter. The ones that didn't — the pre-dawn gym phase, the meticulous macro app — I dropped without much guilt.

Nobody warns you that maintenance is boring in the best way. There's no milestone coming, just a Tuesday where lunch is normal and I don't think about it.

For anyone a year or more out: did your tracking get simpler or more elaborate over time?

Empty-nester here, about a year into maintenance, and I know that texture shift. The scale stays boring, but I now cook one big tray of roasted vegetables on Mondays so dinner isn’t a nightly negotiation, and I walk the library loop before I let myself sit down with tea.

Neither thing would’ve felt natural two years ago. Curious — what’s one tiny routine you’d fight to keep even if the scale never moved again?

The texture shift is the useful data. I’d add a second axis besides Sunday weight: monthly waist at navel and weekly step average.

Mine stayed flat on the scale while those crept the right direction, which made maintenance feel less like guesswork. Sharp follow-up: what non-scale marker changed first for you—sleep midpoint, stairs, resting HR, or clothing fit?

This is the part I’m trying to figure out: what actually flags drift before the scale does? I’m ~14 months into maintenance and started a dumb weekly note in my phone — flights of stairs before I’m winded, whether my wedding ring spins, and sleep quality.

The ring and stairs have been more predictive than Sunday weight. Did you set any specific guardrails for your five-pound band, or just watch the texture and trust it?

Curious what signal you’d act on first.
