My grocery receipts show my carts are getting smaller

I was digging for an ice scraper in my truck console and found a fat rubber-banded stack of grocery receipts. I’m not a spreadsheet person, so I never tracked anything, but those slips kind of did it for me. Early ones are basically frozen pizza, soda, and chips.

The newer ones have Greek yogurt, rotisserie chicken, bagged salad, and way more bananas than one household should need. Our little pharmacy has been great through an insurance hiccup — the tech clled me when the refill got held up and walked me through the new card.

I’m down 31 pounds since last April, slow and steady, and my cart got quieter before my brain really noticed. Anybody else keep a weird accidental record like this?

I do the same thing but with the crumpled corner-store receipt in my backpack. Last year: taquitos, energy drinks, and a sad 99¢ pastry.

This week: cottage cheese, frozen edamame, eggs, tuna packets, and bananas I buy with the delusion I’ll eat before they turn. Dorm cheap-protein move: microwave rice + rotisserie chicken + bagged salad = three bowls, and I feel like a meal-prep influencer until I drop the rice.

What’s the item that keeps sneaking onto your receipts now? Mine’s string cheese, which is basically my personality.
