Sunday night I reconcile the week instead of restarting it

My Sunday thing is not a ritual in the candle/meal-prep sense. It’s 22 minutes at the dining table with a laptop, my scale export, and a slightly judgmental mug of tea. I mark the 7-day rolling average, steps, protein floor, and sleep.

Last Sunday the scale read 1.8 lb over Saturday, but my trendline was still down 0.9 lb for the week, so I closed the tab and ate a normal dinner. Contrarian-ish take: calling it a reset makes me want to erase the messy week and start over. I’d rather reconcile it.

Same 22 minutes every Sunday, no new app, no pantry overhaul.

If the 30-day slope is flat for three Sundays, then I change one input, not everything. Does anyone else do a weekly math session, or is that just my spreadsheet brain?

I do a Wednesday mini-check too, otherwise Sunday turns into a post-mortem instead of a course correction. One thing that helped: I tag the scale with yesterday’s training.

A 1.5–2 lb pop after heavy squats/deadlifts plus a salty dinner is basically a ghost. The 7-day trend matters more, but I also track waist at navel and gym log—same weight, more reps.

Stalled scale for 3 weeks while waist dropped an inch and bench reps climbed = recomp, not failure. Do you nte training/sodium next to your weekly average, or just the number?

Curious how you decide when to hold course vs tweak.

night shifs make Sunday weird anyway. Wednesday mini-check keeps it from turning into a guilt autopsy.

curious what your threshold is for calling a week a real deviation vs. noise. I use a two-out-of-three rule: 7-day trend, waist tape, and gym log.

If two agree, I change nothing and let the third catch up. If only the scale moves, it gets flagged as noise and I check sleep/steps before touching the plan.

Keeps me from optimizing a bad data point.

Judgmental tea + trendline zen is my kind of Sunday 😄
