What I kept from the version of me at 421

I went under 200 a while back — hovering around 193 now, down from 421. The part I didn’t expect wasn’t the scale drop; it was how much of my old mental checklist stayed.

I still scan a restaurant for the booth with the most room, still clock the exits, still do the quick stair math before agreeing to anything. Three years in this forum, and I remember an old thread about what your body forgets. Mine forgot a lot of the shame. It kept the vigilance.

I log most days, walk after dinner, and keep a protein shake in my work bag, but the loudest change is that I’m not negotiating with every meal anymore. Which old survival habit are you glad stuck around, and which one are you trying to unlearn?

I’ve got a similar leftover: I still scan chairs for arms or weight rating before sitting, even when it’s a flimsy patio chair that would obviously hold me now. The weird part is the checklist didn’t shrink in order.

Physical logistics faded first; the “am I allowed to take up space” subroutine is still running in the background. Sharp question: if you had to delete one old check from the OS, which one actually costs you the most now?

I still keep a snack drawer for the 421 version of me: string cheese, turkey sticks, applesauce pouches I steal from the kids’ stash. At my heaviest, the rule was no decision-making after 8pm—just grab and go.

Now the drawer’s still there, even though I’m not. My husband thinks it’s for the kids. It’s not.

Anyone else still stock for the old you?

As a road warrior, mine is the pre-book hotel grocery-store check. I still pull up the map and confirm there’s a supermarket within a mile before I hit reserve.

421-me needed a plan B; current me mostly uses it for Greek yogurt and bananas. I also still request a kitchenette “just in case,” then use the microwave exactly once to reheat coffee.

Does anyone else have a leftover travel habit that’s now pointless but refuses to uninstall?
