A five-minute Friday note replaced my tracking apps

Three years here, and I’ve tried the big spreadsheet, the phone widgets, and a paper log on my desk. All useful for about a week, then too much friction.

What stuck is a five-minute Friday note on my phone. Template is three lines: appetite before dinner (1–5), afternoon energy (1–5), and one sentence about what felt easy or forced that week. I don’t log daily.

Last Friday I saw four low-energy afternoons lined up with days I skipped lunch, which was more useful than any single day’s number. I still read the older maintenance-tracking threads and nod, but this is the version I can keep doing on a busy week.

Anyone else have a low-effort review habit that survives real life?

this is weirdly close to what finally worked for me. i do a sunday 5-min version but add a tiny “soda swap” line — like “sparkling water after 8pm y/n” — because my afternoon energy score was garbage every time i had a late soda while gaming.

the one-sentence bit is the part that keeps me honest; numbers alone let me lie to myself. do you set a friday alarm, or just wait until you remember?

i found an alarm at 4:45pm fridays made it actually happen, otherwise it became a saturday note about how i forgot.
