Weekly check-in — week of Oct 12

Fresh week, fresh thread. Wins, stalls, side quests — post whatever's on your mind. No format required, no numbers gatekeeping. See you in there.

Joining in. My win this week was actually noticing a signal I usually miss: that weird “empty but not hungry” feeling around 3pm.

Instead of automatically snacking, I sat for two minutes and checked in—was I tired? thirsty? bored? Turned out I mostly needed a break and some water.

Still figuring out what my body’s asking for on this journey. Curious: how do you all tell the difference between true hunger and a habit cue?

I’m trying to learn without overthinking every twinge.

The old weekly threads trained me: stalls are just plot twists. Checking in from the slow lane.

Hi everyone, brand new here and this is my first week. Small win: I got a 10-minute walk after dinner three nights, which is huge for me.

Side quest/stall: I’m realizing I can go way too long without eating because nothing sounds good, then I feel blah and unsure whether to push through or just do a protein shake. Not asking for medical advice, just curious—do you set phone reminders for meals/snacks, or use a checklist?

I made a little fridge note for water, protein, and a walk, but I keep forgetting to look at it. Any low-key tracking tricks that don’t feel obsessive? Thanks for having me.

Checking in from a motel between two airport days. My weird win: I started counting terminal walking as actual movement instead of just “being annoyed in transit.” I log it as concourse cardio — DEN B to C, ORD, etc. Yesterday hit 12k steps just getting rebooked.

Also found a hotel breakfast hack: grab two hard-boiled eggs and a yogurt for later instead of the pastry tray. Not glamorous, but it stopped the 4 p.m. vending machine raid.

Road warriors: do you pre-log travel days or just let them be chaos and track after?

I’m back after losing 30 and regaining 20-ish. This week’s win was pre-logging breakfast the night before, which killed my 10am vending machine run.

Not glamorous, but it’s the first time in months I’ve ended a workday not feeling like I “blew it.” Question for the regained-and-back crowd: what’s one tiny routine you kept from your first go-round that still works? I’m trying not to reinvent everything, just make the old habits boring enough to stick.

airport day here too—my protein sake made it through security and I feel weirdly accomplished.

Plateau week seven here and the scale is doing that thing where it pretends not to know me. What finally helped was digging out the tape measure: waist down half an inch even though the number hasn’t budged. Also swapped my 9 p.m.

pantry stare for frozen grapes and a giant mug of tea. Not magic, but it broke the boredom-eating loop.

Anyone else got a non-scale win to flex during a stall? I need ammo to keep from rage-quitting every Friday weigh-in.

Cafe owner here, so my temptation has a name and a glass case. This week’s win: I started plating my own lunch on a saucer and eating it in the back before the noon rush, instead of grazing crusts and bacon ends off the line.

Stall: a regular brought in maple bars as a thank-you and I had half of one standing up. Side quest: I’m labeling prep containers with the date so I actually see how much I’m nibbling.

Anyone else who works around food have a “one bite while cooking” rule that actually sticks?

Airport yogurt parfait saved me again this week. Stalls are just layovers, right? ✈️

One thing I’m trying this week: a quick 1–5 energy note at 3pm instead of only tracking food. Turns out my afternoon “snacky” feeling often shows up on days lunch was light on protein, not just hunger.

Keeping it to one line a day so it doesn’t become a spreadsheet spiral. Curious—what’s one non-scale cue you all check in with?

I’m especially interested in folks who notice energy or mood shifts before appetite ones.

Cafe case is my weakness too. My 3pm note would just say "zombie" 😅

I’m auditing my “little bites” this week instead of changing anything big. Weighed the handful of almonds I grab while making dinner — turns out my “handful” is closer to three servings.

Also put a pen by the couch to tally random bites, which feels ridiculous but has been eye-opening. What’s one “tiny” thing you tracked that turned out to be not tiny at all?

The 3pm zombie note is too real—mine would just say “couch.” 😅
