Weight loss, lab work, and the testosterone question

I am 43, down 38 pounds over roughly seven months, and I track weekly averages rather than reacting to every morning number. My energy, sleep, and libido have improved, but my last two testosterone checks were still low-normal: 310 and then 345 ng/dL, both drawn near 8 a.m. after decent rest.

My clinician noted that weight loss and better metabolic health can help, though not always enough. I am trying to decide whether to explore TRT now or stay with Zepbound and see whether another 20–25 pounds shifts the labs.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who lost a meaningful amount first: did your testosterone numbers move on their own, or did you eventually need to address both separately? I am not looking for dosing details, just your timing and symptom experience.

Tbh that sounds like a frustrating limbo—glad the energy and sleep wins are real.

Thanks for sharing this—it’s helpful that you’re tracking weekly averages and symptoms, not just one number. Gentle follow-up: were both draws at the same lab/assay, and did they check SHBG or free T alongside total?

Also, were you still in an active loss phase or a heavier training block at both draws? My own tracking got muddier during a long deficit, and sleep consistency moved things more than I expected.

Since energy, sleep, and libido are trending up, I’d be curious whether your clinician is weighing the trend plus symptoms rather than the 310/345 numbers alone. How close are you to your goal weight now?

Did they run SHBG/free T, or just total? After 38 lb down, binding proteins can shift enough that total T looks low-normal while free T tells a different story.

Also worth confirming both draws were same lab/time window and not after a hard training block or poor sleep run. If you’re already tracking weekly weight averages, add draw time, sleep, and lifting volume to that same sheet—trend beats two isolated numbers.

Was the clinician’s next step repeat total T alone or a fuller panel?
